Nasturtiums are edible flowers that make colorful additions to fresh green salads. These flowers, however, look more like bougainvillea blossoms to me. I wouldn’t recommend nibbling on these guys. Both flowers grow like weeds here in Santa Barbara - but what beautiful weeds they are. I love this close up! I love how you can even see their little veins in this picture. It reminds me of Anne Rice actually, who seems to have a thing for vampires and bougainvillea flowers, perhaps for this very reason…. (Have you seen or read “Interview with a Vampire”? Creepy stuff.) “Not edible!” per Suzanne though - I’d recommend nasturtium flower salads as a tastey, less homocidal, alternative.
