Venezia Pullover Started

I bought the yarn a while back to make the Venezia Pullover from Interweave Knits and just now started it. I kept telling myself that I would start it once the Trapeze Jacket was finished but I must say, I so do not want to work on that sweater. This one though, it calls to me!

I am using Knitpicks Essential Sock yarn in navy and green on size 4 needles. I love it!

Cotton-ease baby blanket

This is a gift for a friend that is having a baby boy. The shower is in a week or so and I wanted to do something fast but oh so great! I used the knitting machine with the 3.5plate to knit the body of the blanket using 4 balls of Cottonease in charcoal. Then I picked up sts using Cottonease in stone from the live cast on and live take off of the machine plus the sides for a mitered garter border. I don’t know how big I will make the border but I will go until I think it’s good.

Old Forest Rayon RikRak yarn

I bought this yarn from Over the Rainbow Yarns on Ebay. Great yardage (600yards) for the price ($10). Don’t know what I will do with it yet but I am thinking a shawl is in order. Something lacy to show the texture and variance in colors.

2 hanks (530 yards total) of Merino Tencel roving single spun worsted weight, approx. 1/2 lb

Plum Cashmere with Vogue vest

I decided to use the plum cashmere for the cutest purple vest ever. Here it is! Out of Vogue Fall 2006 (I am pretty sure). I am using size 6 needles to match gauge (on the washed swatch)

Plum cashmere swatches washed. So fluffy & soft it is unbelievable!

Here are 2 of the 3 hanks repun, washed and drying. I will ball them as soon as they are dry.

Swatches washed

Now here are the same swatches washed. You can see that overspinning the bottom swatch ended up with a balanced yarn after washing.

So now I have respun the ply’s together to make it tightly spun biasing to the left to overcorrect the bias to the right in the original yarns I am plying together. Make sense? It does to me and that is all that matters.

Swatch issues

On the top you can see the grey swatch on size 7 needles after washing and drying. Before washing/drying it had no bias. Now much, much bias. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and re-ply the yarn to make it more biased in the opposite direction. THat is the bottom swatch of the newly extra spun plied yarn.
