I have started Christmas knitting after one of my brother in laws decided I gave the best Christmas gifts ever & he can’t wait to see what I made him this year. Hats are always the gift of choice for family members. I have tried other things; scarves, socks, purses for the girls. They always come back to requesting hats!
This one is loosely based on the Noro Hat that Rowan made and posted to the Yahoo group, Santa Barbara Knitters.
I used WoolEase Thick & Quick (from my stash, thankyouverymuch), cast on 40sts, purled 3 rows, knit 3 rows on & on until it was time to decrease. Then I k5, k2tog for first decrease round. Worked 4 rounds, k4, k2tog around. I continued decreasing that way until there were only 8sts left, cut & drew the yarn through. Voila, hat.

I whipped up this thing for useful purposes only. Not the cutest, not the fanciest, just useful. As some knitting/crocheting should be.
I walk the kids to school everyday and hate to carry a bag with water, etc in it. I wear a down vest that has pockets for my phone, earbuds & tissues. My knitting sack has a d-ring I attach to the inside of my vest & it hangs right below the bottom of the vest so I can knit while I am walking or sitting at the school. The only thing left is my coffee mug in the morning & my water bottle in the afternoon. Tada! I made my own carrier to fix that problem! Now both hands will be free to knit to & from school. Brilliant!

I had to type up the pattern today, I made all the copies of charts I needed last week and now I am ready to teach the class tonight! Wish me luck. Why did it have to be so frickin’ hot today??

I used a cone of boucle acrylic yarn that I had on hand. It’s an EZ style raglan with no shaping really. Everything is roll hem. Simple as pi.

My star tattoo is distorting the ankle of my foot straight on so that is why you can’t see the eyelets perfectly there but yay for finished socks!! Fun pattern, GORGEOUS yarn! Overall I would say a complete success! This particular pair is going to Tracy seeing as how they are too big for my ankles & fall down continuously. I will be making myself a pair with a tighter gauge so I don’t have to mess with the pattern at all. Um…sorry ’bout the unvaccumed carpet in the photo. I am in way too much of a hurry to post the picture to take such care!

I am putting together a year of dish/washcloths for my parents as a ‘just because’ gift. My mom’s kitchen is all done in roosters so this one is really appropriate! Rusty the Rooster
