The Picnic Blanket

I DID IT
I DID IT
I DID IT

Finally the Picnic Blanket is finished!!!

You can see all the details on my project page on Ravelry.

It will sit all 6 of us for eating but if we want to spread out it’s not quite big enough.

Finished size: 62″x 68″

Finished weight: 10 pounds (give or take)

I freakin’ love it!

I am in the process of sewing a carry bag for it. Soon, it will be complete!

It will make it’s world debut on WWKIPDay at East Beach!

Playing catch-up

I have finished a few things in the past 2 weeks since being home. First, I finished the Baby Surprise Jacket for Knit & Pearl. I am teaching a class on it in May and it’s really going to be a lot of fun!

I used Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted, 1.25 balls, in color Edgewater on size 6 needles. Details on Ravelry here.

I love how the yarn worked up. I was concerned using a variagated yarn for this because I have seen some BSJ’s that pooled horribly. Luckily, this yarn has short enough dye repeats that the colors worked very well through all of the shaping techniques.

I started a pair of socks on Friday after finishing the Laminaria (it gets it’s own post). They are cute and smooshy.

I am using Fleece Artist Sea Wool Bordello sock yarn inĀ  the colorway Hercules on size 1 US knitpicks 32″ needles. This is just a simple slip stitch pattern that I made up to break up the spiraling a bit.

This yarn is fabulous! It is working up into a nice strong fabric. I am sure it will soften up a lot with washing but I wanted some solid, durable socks out of this yarn. I was afraid it would be too flimsy if knit to the gauge they suggested so I went tight at 9.5 sts per inch.

I have so much sock yarn that I think I will focus solely (no pun intended) on making socks for the next few weeks to see just how many I can crank out. I hate the guilt that comes along with having a very large stash. So I will appease my conscience and use a bunch of it up.
